Our Blue Sea Area
Blue Sea Retreat is on the quiet Malagash Peninsula between the villages of Tatamagouche and Wallace. Being centrally located it's easy to explore a wide range of attractions. For example, the ferry to PEI is just 45 minutes to the east and the fixed link bridge is only an hour west.
The Sunrise Trail area in Cumberland and Colchester Counties here on the North Shore area provide many attractions, festivals and amenities such as historic steam mills, grist mills, museums and a pewter factory. Locally, golf is available at several locations within easy driving distance while other attractions include woolen outlets, local craft stores and a very fine local winery. Just two kilometers away is one of the north shore’s finest sand beaches; ideal for walking, swimming or clamming.
Bring your boat because the local Malagash public wharf can accommodate boat launching and overnight tie-ups.
Lobster season on our shore is from May through June but don't let that stop you. Local lobster pounds obtain fresh catches from adjacent locales throughout the year so bring your appetite.
In Malagash itself, local oysters and clams are farmed with fresh garden produce available during the summer months. Organic farming is practiced locally and superior products are readily available. Fresh lamb, poultry, seasonal fruits and berries, preserves, honey, and Mennonite baked goods can be found close by too.
On Saturday mornings in Tatamagouche, a farmers market provides a great selection and is a meeting place for both locals and visitors.
Within easy reach of the cottage in Tatamagouche are grocery stores, restaurants, various shops, a local library and a hospital.
The village is also a venue for musicians in concert, or at amateur jam sessions.
We can assure you, you won't be bored! |
